The Things We Do For Love....

Probably the first song that I remember is 10cc's, "The Things We Do For Love".  I believe on a trip to Wood River to visit my Aunt Faye and Uncle Bob is when I got the 45 of it.  I think it was Aunt Faye that bought it, but hey this was 1976 or 1977 and I was all of three, maybe four years old at the time.   I'm not sure if this is where my love from music came from, but it's probably a good start, at least I think it was were it started.  To tell you the truth, to this day I do not know that much about the band 10cc, their biggest hit was the song "I'm Not in Love" from the album, The Original Soundtrack.  I just looked that up on the internet.  Mostly the memories of the song are memories of my family(my sister in particular) having a few laughs at their then three year old brother trying to sing "The Things We Do For Love".  For good, bad, or indifferent, I guess I've been singing most of my life.

Music is an important part of my life, I would hope most find some joy in some kind of music.  I don't know if the youth of today feels the same way about music as I did in my younger days.  I'm sure there are still aspiring musicians out there.  I guess getting older you get more removed from the mainstream music scene.  Music seems to be less personal these days.  A digital download doesn't have the "personality" as an album, or even a cassette or even compact discs.  I loved reading the line notes, finding out who wrote the songs, who produced, who played on the album.  The artwork, the thank you's.  You don't get this with an mp3.  Vinyl has been slowly creeping back into stores lately, maybe a new generation will discover the greatness of "old" forms of listening to music.  Like I did with that 10cc 45 from 40 years ago.
